• Working with Kathryn has been an absolute pleasure! Her patient and thorough approach has been invaluable for my Children’s Chapter Book Fantasy series. This genre demands a special kind of passion and understanding, and Kathryn's expertise truly made a world of difference. Her attention to detail is unmatched—nothing slipped her keen eyes. Kathryn provided insightful feedback that was not only relevant but also incredibly uplifting and motivating. She went above and beyond, offering timely responses that were often earlier than I expected, and even took the time to answer additional questions, providing guidance on the publishing industry as a whole. Her dedication and support throughout the editing process made the collaboration a true delight. I am so grateful for her expertise and cannot recommend her highly enough!

  • Deciding to put my heart and soul down on paper for all to see was a big decision. One that needed careful consideration. Considering the vulnerability I was prepared to show and the sensitive nature of some of the topics. Choosing someone to be my writer was an essential and one of the most important aspects I have needed to make. I needed to trust them to act professional whilst treating me with respect and dignity. Kathryn was the perfect choice. She understood the brief, got inside my soul and made my words blend into her own. By the time the book was written there really was only one voice throughout and that was my own. That's quite a skill! I am lucky to have had the opportunity to work with Kathryn. She has listened without judgement whilst going on a rollercoaster ride with me as we scribed the ups and downs that life has taken me on. This was a cathartic journey. One I needed to get out so that I can truly look back and see how far I've travelled. Thank you, Kathryn, for helping carve the way.

  • As a first time author, I was nervous to send my book out to someone, knowing they were going to scrutinize every word. But Kathryn was great! We started our collaboration with a video chat and she put me at ease right way. She walked me through the process, told me what to expect, and then dove right in. During her editing, she was in constant contact with me, letting me know where she was in the manuscript and asking me questions to ensure her edits properly reflected my thoughts on paper. I feel that she did an amazing job advising me on changes and helping me keep my voice all throughout. Where necessary, she offered her mentorship and helped me see through the fog of the industry. Once I finished reviewing her edits, we had another call to finalize everything, going change by change resulting in the best version of my story. Without question, she will be my goto editor for my next book.

  • I started writing what was supposed to be a short story for my writing group, and over six years it morphed into a sprawling, epic manuscript I didn't know what do with. After a couple of abortive attempts at submitting it to a publisher and a couple of agents, I realised it still needed a lot more work and serious editing. I was just about to abandon it altogether when my friend, Jill, suggested I contact Kathryn. When I say "suggested', I mean she highly recommended Kathryn, being absolutely delighted with how she had helped her. I knew I liked Kathryn from our very first zoom meeting. She is friendly and extremely easy to talk to, and immediately put me at my ease. I instinctively knew I was in a safe pair of hands. Her editing skills and knowledge are superlative and I learned a lot from her guidance and expertise. Her enthusiasm and love for her work shine through in everything she says and does, and her encouragement is wonderful and heartfelt. She is easily accessible through WhatsApp, and is always ready to help with queries. She also has the patience of a saint, sailing through quite a few onerous and unforeseen problems with aplomb, not to mention my predilection for unnecessary exclamation marks, capital letters and dashes! Thanks to Kathryn, I am now the proud author of a beautiful book, and her encouragement has given me the confidence to forge ahead with the second novel in what I hope will be a trilogy with Kathryn once again being my trusted editor, and, I hope, my friend. I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Kathryn. She is an absolute joy to work with.

  • Working with Kathryn on my second novel, Know my Heart is True, was completely straightforward and totally painless. Completing the edit in less than a fortnight, she was extremely tolerant of my scattergun approach to the comma and total ignorance of semi colons. When I explained this book was the second in a trilogy, she impressed me by asking to read the first, which indicated a diligent approach and desire to comprehensively grasp the story arc. The regular updates via WhatsApp throughout the editing process were most welcome, and the scheduled Zoom meetings gave me the opportunity to make notes in advance. Contained in her final email were comments, amendments, tips and advice, all fully explained and Kathryn ensured I understood the reasoning behind them. The encouragement I received was both constructive and helpful. Her enthusiasm for my writing has gone a long way to ease my discomfort whenever I own up to writing books. I would have no hesitation in working with Kathryn again and have already recommended her services to a fellow writer. A prequel will follow book three, and should the MacCallion family not vacate the space between my ears willingly, the next generation are waiting in the wings and the entire family are confident that Kathryn will ensure their story shines.

  • Working with Kathryn on my second novel has been a pleasure. My first was published by an indie publisher, so my role was mostly signing the various elements off. With A Moment’s Madness I decided to self-publish but knew that I would need help. I approached Kathryn having seen some of her work. Kathryn took my cover ideas with her designer producing a beautiful cover. Kathryn edited my manuscript very quickly with excellent communication. Delighted with what her formatter has achieved. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Kathryn, always prompt, always positive - she does what she promises.

  • As a first time author, I had no idea about the detailed mechanics of writing a book nor the importance of getting the narrative flowing smoothly. Kathryn Hall was a delight from our first zoom meeting. Her attention to detail was astonishing and her knowledge of grammar and syntax exceptional. But most of all, she absolutely understood what I was trying to convey and immediately got with the timbre of the novel. From the start, it felt as if I was in a safe pair of hands and being listened to with a sympathetic ear. She works at speed and with unerring accuracy and I would be happy to recommend her to any writer, whether first timer or high selling old hand.

  • I ambled into writing a book without much of a plan, and having written it I didn’t really know what to do next. I tinkered with it for ages while everything that I was reading about publishing seemed to be essentially negative; people just listing what they were not looking for, emphasising the sheer number of folks trying to get their work out there and outlining sharp practises on the fringes of the industry. Talking to Kathryn she immediately pushed those concerns to one side as she focused on getting the book into a presentable form and clearly outlined the options for getting it published. If I write another one, I will involve Kathryn at an earlier stage and have no hesitation in recommending her to help you bring your project to fruition.

  • Kathryn worked with me on my most recent novel Sun, Sea, and Murder, and I can honestly say it was a great decision to employ her services. My novel is more rounded, consistent, and importantly, error-free as a result. From my first engagement with Kathryn, she was helpful and enthusiastic, and her communication was great throughout. Initially, we had a video call to discuss the book, then as Kathryn worked through the edits she updated me with her progress and thoughts. I was impressed with how efficiently Kathryn completed the work and with her willingness to engage after. We scheduled another video call to discuss any issues or queries I might have with my manuscript, and the feedback I got was invaluable. I will definitely use Kathryn's services again for my next novel.

  • I discovered Kathryn on Twitter after the publication of my first True Crime book. With a second manuscript completed and having read her testimonials I decided to employ her services. I have no hesitation in stating that it was the right decision. I have found her to be exceptionally approachable, always displaying a high level of dedication and communication. Nothing is too much trouble and her knowledge displayed has been an educational journey on its own. Kathryn has no doubt brought my manuscript ‘to life’ and taken it into a different league from what it previously was. I would highly recommend her editing services and I look forward to working with her again.

  • Kathryn helped me bring my latest novel, Katie’s Server, to publication with excellent editing and really helpful advice. She kept to a tight schedule sending my manuscript back to me within a few days and followed up with a video call that went over any questions I had concerning her edits and feedback. She also sent on some additional tutorials that further pointed me in the right direction in respect of my questions. She is very down-to-earth to work with and, as I write erotica (at the moment) had no issues with the sexual content. I’m looking forward to working with her again in the future. Cheers, Kathryn.

  • Kathryn worked on the edit of my debut novel ‘The Duel’ after I decided it needed a professional edit following publication. After several weeks of searching, I discovered Kathryn on Twitter and was impressed with the testimonials of her clients so decided to take the plunge and send her my manuscript. The way Kathryn works is very collaborative, and I was updated with the progress of the edit regularly either through a zoom call or WhatsApp message. During our initial calls, Kathryn made sure she got to know me as a person, as well as wanting to know what I wanted to achieve from the process. Working with Kathryn on my first book was such a joy that I quickly booked her for my second book and will certainly use her for future ones I write. It has been a pleasure to get to know her and I’ve been blown away with her work ethic and editing skills, where I’ve learnt so much from her. I would recommend Kathryn to any authors out there that need a professional edit as she’s definitely the best in the business.

  • Kathryn CJ Hall made me feel at ease immediately on our first zoom call. I had sent her a few chapters prior to the call. Kathryn was supportive, constructive and dedicated from the get go and I knew that my manuscript was in the right hands. Kathryn not only became my editor and mentor throughout the process but also a friend, and the best sort of friend, one that doesn’t pull any punches if you need to hear the ugly truth instead of a beautiful lie. Professional, dedicated and friendly service, whole heartedly recommended and I look forward to continuing to work with Kathryn on future projects.

  • I was recommended to Kathryn from a good friend, who had his book edited by her. I was terrified of sending my first children's novel manuscript to Kathryn but I need not have been so worried. She is an absolute dream to work with, and inspired me with so much confidence that I have another two books in abeyance as well as a sequel to my first book.

    PD Chegwin, Author

  • Kathryn was recommended to me and it has been a delight to work with her. She is straightforward, honest but always supportive. Any suggested changes still allowed my true voice to remain in tact and showing through. Her collaborative approach is excellent and we worked really hard and fast together so that I could publish my novel. I have no hesitation in recommending her.

    Phil Hampton, Author

  • From my first conversation with Kathryn, she made it easy. Communication was brilliant at every stage and the changes that were made helped change The Nowhere Man from a good read to an excellent read. She also helped with the cover design, which is much better than I ever expected. Kathryn is so easy to work with and extremely talented. If I hadn’t contacted her, my book would still be sitting as a file on my computer.

Ian Wilson, Company Director and Author

  • Kathryn worked with me on my first novel “Quest” a post-apocalyptic survival story with a science fiction twist. I have sent her the manuscript for my second novel “Revenge” on the strength of how well she supported me. When I sent my manuscript to Kathryn, I wasn’t sure what to expect in all honesty. In military terms, it wasn’t a ‘fire and forget’ arrangement and wait for a completed response, it was totally collaborative. A process that I understand and appreciate. I enjoy her candid approach, which matches my own, and I know that I have learnt a lot from Kathryn during the collaboration that will make me a more accomplished author. Thank you.

  • Working with Kathryn has been an absolute pleasure! She’s talented, patient and has great vision for her client’s books. Her edits and feedback are constructive and helpful, and as a non-native English speaker, I’ve learned a great deal from her! Further, she was truly valuable in discussing the cover of the book, blurb, and further steps for publishing. It felt like having my own personal support team and, as a slightly stressed indie-author, it was great help for me! I’ll happily let Kathryn edit my next manuscript!

    Karen Lykkebo, Fantasy Author

  • My thanks go to Kathryn Hall, Author & Editor, for her support, professionalism, and excellent writing, putting this book together which also included research. Kathryn is a genuine friend who has helped me every way she can to accomplish my dream. I reached out to the universe and there she was: I thank God for that day!

Noel Sorbie, Clairvoyant Medium & Spiritual Healer

  • What can I say about working with Kathryn on my book? It was collaborative and truly educational. My first experience with an editor was to send the manuscript, wait twelve weeks, get the report back and scratch my head. Working with Kathryn I understood exactly what was wrong, what was right, and what was middle of the road in my manuscript. There’s a huge difference between tossing things over the wall, and working collaboratively through the story you’re attempting to tell. Most editors tend to work in isolation, and I believe that’s not as good, because the author does not grow from the process. I have a trilogy planned, she’s helped me with the first book, and I fear for her sanity as I know she’s stuck with me for the entire journey of the trilogy.

  • Kathryn is an absolute pleasure to work with and a very skilled editor, who has made a world of difference to the quality of my copy, so it was without hesitation, I was delighted to write this review. She is a top-class professional always returning the work to the agreed deadlines. It has been brilliant working with Kathryn, and I can recommend her 100%.
