"Remember, remember the fifth of November, gunpowder, treason, and plot!"
November 1926. When three ravens die in mysterious circumstances, Inspector Graves and his protégé Constable Carver are sent to the Tower of London to investigate. After all, the ravens belong to the King, and an ancient legend states that if the Tower is without ravens the kingdom will fall!
Once they arrive the detectives find a unique community steeped in secrets. But when a Beefeater is shot dead just yards away from where Graves and Carver are standing, it appears a more sinister plot is underway, a plot that will send shockwaves throughout the Tower and beyond.
As the death toll rises, the detectives find themselves battling an ingenious opponent, someone hiding and killing in plain sight.
To discover the motive behind the mayhem, Inspector Graves must find the answer to some baffling questions... How can a man be killed by a weapon that is in a different building? Why is a hospital patient feigning illness? Why does the schoolteacher deny knowing one of the murder victims? And what is the meaning of the riddle that is haunting Graves?
Ultimately, The Riddle of the Ravens is a case that will prove all too personal for Inspector Graves, and one which will test him to his limits. -

Sometimes it’s the little decisions that have the biggest impact.
Had Jon not succumbed to a moment’s madness, he might still be married to the lovely Gaby, he might still be tucking his young children into bed at night.
Alcohol might not have become his anaesthetic.
Had Faye not chosen to hide from her overbearing Russian father and her uninterested Russian husband, she wouldn’t have met and fallen for the very beautiful Jo.
Had Faye not been a very successful OnlyFans creative, Jo and Mickey wouldn’t be trying to solve several murders, trying to catch a serial killer.
Not everyone is promised a happy enough ending.

In 2018, things hit rock bottom for me in my personal life, and I’m not ashamed to say that I literally stopped coping. As a doting mother to two sons, one with complex special needs, and a loyal wife to Mark, I tried so hard to prevent the cracks appearing, but drastic events were overwhelming my inner-peace, and even with Mark’s support, I just couldn’t see any light at the end of a very dark tunnel.
Being a determined character, I eventually pulled myself together and surrounded myself with dreams of having a successful career and finding comfort in sewing and all things creative. My company, Sew Pretty Sew Mindful, became my focus as I approached it with a new mindset, and my new-found confidence and self-esteem started to flourish, so much so, that two years ago I found myself making a debut appearance on the wonderfully engaging TV programme, Sewing Street.
My family are supportive, but life hasn’t always been easy over the past decade, my thoughts having been a rollercoaster of emotions. This is my story about my struggles and successes, my family and my career. But above all, it is my story that I hope will encourage you to one day have your own tale to tell.

"Gritty, authentic and unputdownable!" Bear Grylls
An explosive, compelling, searingly authentic thriller about the Iraq War.
A stunning first novel by a former SAS officer.
Good Friday 2004, and a US logistics convoy sets out to carry a precious cargo on the long journey from Baghdad to Kuwait. Several hundred kilometres to the south, a covert SAS patrol is on the lookout for weapons of mass destruction. Meanwhile the Mahdi Army prepares to launch its ultra-violent insurgency against the Occupying Allies that very day.
Convoy, patrol and insurgents all collide with terrifying consequences. With the veneer of civilisation stripped away, young men and women are forced to fight a brutal battle for survival, reliant only on themselves and their closest comrades. The only rule is there are no rules, and civilisation is whittled down to survival of the fittest.
And in the ruthless reality of twenty-first century warfare, it’s not just about who fights and who survives. It’s about trust and betrayal… and some very tempting treasure…

We didn’t know about Len Dunnett until the day of Aunt Flo’s funeral in 1981. Her secret had literally been taken with her to the grave. When we noticed the distinctive features and the similarities as he was ushered past us on that sombre day, by the woman we later discovered was his wife Birgitta, we realised there was a member of our family that we’d never met.
Extensive research and delving into our now-extended family’s history, we have discovered so much about our ancestors and learnt a great deal about the somewhat sorrowful life that Aunt Flo led. We found letters and articles and many photographs to put everything in place and create this fascinating picture of lost love, regret, and heartache. But we also discovered joy and enchantment as we read through each letter, meticulously scouring between the lines to understand why Aunt Flo had lived the way she had and why Len turned up at her funeral.
This is the story of the people we have since grown to admire, relatives we didn’t know about, and in some cases, their unbelievable journeys through life. Telling their stories also illuminates a broad picture of a hundred years of social change.

An imposing lighthouse stands near the port of Liverpool, reaching seven storeys high with a black, wrought-iron winding staircase that leads to the lamp room at the very top. In 1894, Elizabeth Williams took over as Lighthouse Keeper, and was assisted by her youngest daughter, Dora. The lighthouse was a labour of love for both mother and daughter, following Elizabeth’s husband’s untimely death. At only six years old, Dora had the knowledge and character of a much older girl, and with her dedication and endurance, she helped her mother recover from a near-fatal accident and assisted in saving ships from being ransacked and sunk by pirates.
Keeping the lighthouse beacon lit in those days was staggeringly hard work as it meant Elizabeth, a woman in her forties, had to carry huge bags of coal up 130 steps to keep the flame shining throughout the night. With the hindrance of smugglers and buccaneers, this often meant protecting Dora as well as her beloved home, and when tragedy struck one night, leaving Elizabeth seriously injured, it was the old method of semaphore flags, Dora’s knowledge, and their friend Brian, that eventually got the attention of the keepers at the nearby Bidston Lighthouse. But all was not as it seemed…
This is the story of Dora, depicting her mischievous and childlike humour, along with her bravery and loyalty, capturing some wonderfully enchanting moments and a little girl’s unforgettable personality.
