When you’re happy with your manuscript, and you’re confident you’ve done everything you can, it is important to have it professionally edited before publication. This process will begin with me offering you a video call on Zoom, Google Meet, WhatsApp or Teams where we will talk about your story, plot, characters, POV, and any other areas I feel may need to be discussed. This is a good opportunity for us to get to know each other and build up the trust and rapport that will help me to perfect your manuscript and have it ready for publication. If you’d rather not have a video call, however, that’s absolutely fine. Emails are also a great way to communicate. I like to keep in contact with my clients on WhatsApp, too, so that’s always another option.
When editing your manuscript, I use Microsoft Word’s ‘Track Changes’ and, line by line, make corrections and highlight areas that need improvement, adding comments in the sidebar. As well as a professionally edited manuscript, you’ll also receive detailed feedback either in the body of an email or as a separate document, which will assist you with your writing in the future if needed.
Fiction:
I’ll look for problems with plot, structure, characters, dialogue, tension, pace, setting, and POV misuse, to name just a few. Alongside this, I’ll check for repetition of words and phrases, spelling, grammar and punctuation errors, and any inconsistencies. If your main character has blue eyes in Chapter One, then brown eyes in Chapter Five, I'll pick up on it. It might be a scorching summer's day on page 20 and an autumn morning on page 21. These inconsistencies are easily rectifiable, and will be flagged up in my comments. Number formats can also create inconsistencies, as can the spelling of names, especially if those names are unusual. My aim is to ensure your manuscript is publishable, and I will do everything to make that happen for you.
Nonfiction:
The rules that apply to fiction books also apply to reference books, autobiographies and memoirs, as the same elements should be used within your manuscript. My aim is to transform your book into a gripping, enjoyable and page-turning read.
If you have written a book about a specialist subject, I’ll need to have a conversation to ascertain how much research and fact-checking will be needed.
Please note, once your book has been edited and Track Changes has been turned off, should you wish to make further adjustments or amendments, adding or deleting text etc., additional costs will be incurred, generally at a rate of £25 per hour.
FEE: £9.50 per 1,000 words
Manuscripts under 20k words will be charged at my hourly rate of £30.
A 20% deposit will be required for manuscripts over 50k words. This will be due for payment once your manuscript has been scheduled in the diary to confirm your booking.
I am happy to assess the first few pages of your work and provide a quote, but in the majority of cases, the fee will remain at £9.50/1,000 words. (The fee may be higher, however, for manuscripts that require significant rewrites.)
[If a date has been agreed but nearer the time you realise that your manuscript is not going to be ready, there will be a charge made to recompense the work I will lose in this respect. The charge will depend on how much notice you give, but please note that once the contract has been sent, your manuscript has then been booked into my schedule.]

The ghostwriting service is available to people who would like to write a true-life story or fiction book. Perhaps you have a fantastic idea for a novel but have no writing experience, or simply don’t have the time to write it. Or, maybe you’d like to write your autobiography or memoir and have all the necessary information, but aren’t quite sure about how to put it all together. As a ghostwriter, I'll write your book for you. I offer video calls and can meet in person if you require, and I'll really get to know you and understand how you tick. If your book is a biography, I'll spend copious amounts of time getting inside your head, learning about "you", keeping your voice as if you're writing the book yourself. The same goes for fiction novels; it'll be your voice on those pages, even though I've written it.
I can approach your project in many ways. Typed notes, voice-recordings, video or phone calls, and face-to-face meetings (or a combination of these) enable me to obtain all the information I’ll need to make your book come to life.
FEE: £30.00 per 1,000 words

If you’re finding it hard to get started on your book, and are either spending your days staring at a blank screen or consistently hitting the ‘delete’ key, maybe it’s time to get a little help to get the cogs turning. I can assist you to get those first valuable words onto the page whilst giving you constructive advice to enable you to move forward with more knowledge and confidence.
Perhaps there’s just one section of the book you are struggling with, and you need a few ideas to get you going again. It’s amazing what a quick brain-storming session can achieve.
If there’s one little hurdle you need to overcome, you may just need an hour of my time. But if you’re looking for guidance, encouragement and support during the entire writing process, perhaps weekly or monthly contact would be better for you.
FEE: £30.00 per hour

If you have a completed first draft and you feel you have a good book on your hands, but you know there’s room for improvement, a critique can be a massive help to you. I will read your entire manuscript and send you a detailed 6-10 page report offering suggestions and advice in order for you to take your book to the next level. It’s an in depth analysis where I’ll be looking at all the elements your specific book needs, and what may be missing or need to be improved upon. Many authors who have gone through this process have been astounded at the results and the difference it has made to their work.
FEE: £7.00 per 1,000 words. Manuscripts under 20,000 words will be charged at my hourly rate of £30.

If you want to self publish your book it will need to be formatted correctly in order for it to be uploaded to your desired platform. There are different requirements for ebook and paperback, and I have a professional graphic designer on board who is able to take care of all of these for you, ensuring your book not only looks appealing, but (in the case of ebooks) is able to be read on all electronic devices.
The formatting service ensures your book will have the correct margins, fonts, justification, page and section breaks, first-line indents and page numbering, and that all incorrect or unneccessary formatting is removed. We will also create the title page, copyright information, dedication page, acknowledgements, table of contents, introduction, prologue, about the author, more books by the author, contact information, or anything else you may need. Finally, we’ll make sure all links are clickable (and will take the reader to the desired location) and that the final manuscript can be successfully uploaded to the platform(s) of your choice.
If you need assistance in uploading your book to KDP, I can do this for you at the cost of £50.
FEE: The cost can vary, depending on the author’s requirements, so each book is quoted individually. Prices generally start at £220 to include both paperback and Kindle.
It is important to ensure you are 100% happy with your book content ‘BEFORE’ it goes for professional formatting. If you have to make amendments after it’s been formatted or after you have received the proof copy, this will incur extra costs, depending on the change(s) you require. This cost will start at £20.

When your book has been written, edited and formatted, it’s time to create the perfect cover and make sure it gets seen by the masses.
After discussing with you your initial ideas, my graphic designer and I will get to work and produce two or three images for you, which can then be revised to your specification. The more ideas you have, the quicker the process, although we’re happy to start with a blank canvas.
FEE: The cost can vary greatly, depending on the amount of work required, so each book cover is quoted individually. Prices tend to start at £280.00, but if your requirements are less complicated, this may be reduced.
If you require any changes after the book has been uploaded or after the proof has been received, this will incur an extra cost.

If you’re just needing your book uploaded to Amazon, I can do this for you for a set fee of £50.
NB: There is no charge to upload your book if I have already edited it for you.

We all know how hard it is to promote our work once it’s ready to be showcased to the world, but it doesn’t need to be a full-time job and can, with my help, be a relatively enjoyable task. There are many ways to advertise your book and it’s always a good idea to have some kind of promotional material in place ready for your release date. Social media is obviously a very popular way to promote these days, and together with my designers, I offer a few options to get you started and hopefully drive some traffic to your platform to tempt those all-important sales. The list of options I currently offer is not exhaustive, so if there is something else you may require, you only need to ask.
